Changes to chapter officers need to be submitted to IEEE. Please report changes to IEEE via the vTools.OfficerReporting tool. Access to the tool requires the use of an IEEE Account. *If your chapter is not listed correctly and you submitted your changes via vTools, please contact the TEC Office.
Forming a Chapter
TEC encourages any interest group in any region to initiate a TEC chapter, provided there is a minimum of 12 active TEC members volunteering to devote their time to the chapter’s activities and have interest in the TEC field of interest.
Petitions for IEEE Society and Technical Council Chapters and Joint Chapters can be submitted online after the proposed Chapter formation has been agreed to by the Section Chair. Please contact your Section Chair directly to begin the process. Use the IEEE Geographic Roster to find contact information.
Once the proposal has been accepted by the Section Chair, please visit https://mga.ieee.org/volunteer-hub/geographic-unit-operations/formations-and-petitions and follow the instructions to submit a petition.
Chapter Benefits & Programs
- TEC webinars and webinar recordings, which you can view with your chapter members during a chapter meeting
- Opportunities to submit chapter news or articles for inclusion in the TEC E‑News and the IEEE Electrification Magazine
- The option to attend a future TEC AdCom meeting or conference to collaborate with colleagues in your technical area
- Send pictures of any of your chapter meetings with the TEC banner with a short caption, and we will post them in the TEC E-Newsletter and the TEC social media sites
- We are also developing our virtual Distinguished Lecturer (DL) program, which will be available to TEC Chapters in 2026.
- TEC Student Branch Chapters can obtain funding from IEEE YP: https://yp.ieee.org/volunteers/event-funding/

TEC Chapters are required to report their activities and current officers to IEEE. Please use the links below to access the necessary forms.

Please note that a chapter may be considered inactive when they do not hold at least two meetings a year or fail to report their meetings to the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities. Units that have not reported for three years will be dissolved at the next meeting of the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board.
